How does a speaker work?

In a speaker there is a coil of wire which an alternating current is passed through. An alternating current is when the current keeps switching direction, hundreds of times a second. When a magnet is put up to this coil it uses it magnetic field which gives a force to the coil. But since the current is alternating, the force is alternating, give the coil a vibration. To hear this vibration, the coil is attached something that is flexable. The vibrations of the materials gives off the sound.

Where did your supplies come from?

All of the supplies either came from the dump of scrap parts of material throughout the room or everyday materials.

What advice could you give future speaker builders?

When anyone wants to make a speaker, their first objective is to actually make sound even if its very soft or out of tone. Speakers are very fun and enjoyable to build and to listen to. The most important part of the speaker is the coil. The tighter and more turns the wire has, the more powerful the speaker will be.

Whow could your design be improved?

The design can be improved by using more improved parts that will make the sound louder and clearer. Some parts that will help is the tape could be changed and the coil coud be tighter will more turns and a more stronger magnet.

What are the parts of a speaker?

The parts of the speaker we made are a cardboard box, coil, a real speaker, wire, 2 home made speakers, and three magnets.

what have you learned about problem solving?

when something doesn't work you don't just stop you keep trying some different ideas like would it still wok if you changed the shape or the size. Make sure that u pick a topic you like. If you just give up on the only idea you had than that was not a good idea to start with.

Why would you blow a fuse on a speaker or amplifier?

If youare listening to your music to high than you could blow a fuse when there is too much curint going through the curcit.

Why do you need an amplifier, and what does it do?

If you want to make the sound greater than you buy an amplifier and hook it upthis will run more current through the curcit.
